These terms cover notboringnashville.com, your membership, our events, and the texts and emails we send. Not Boring Nashville (“NBN,” “we,” “us”) runs this community. Using the site means you agree to what's here. Looking for the text-program disclosures? Jump to the text program.

Who can join

You need to be at least 18 to create an account. Some events have their own age requirements set by the venue (a bar night is 21+, for example) — those are listed on the event.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and your email address current, since that's how we reach you about events you RSVP'd to. One account per person. You're responsible for what happens under your account, and you can delete it anytime by emailing us.

Being part of this

NBN exists so people can actually meet each other. That only works if everyone is decent, so: no harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination; no using our events or the member directory to sell things, recruit, or hit on people who aren't interested; don't share other members' information outside the group; and follow the rules of whatever venue we're at. We can remove anyone from an event or the community for behavior that makes it worse for everyone else.

Events and RSVPs

RSVPs help hosts plan, and some events have limited spots — if you can't make it, cancel your RSVP so someone else can take it. Events can change or be called off for weather, venue issues, or life; we'll tell RSVPs as soon as we know.

You come to events at your own risk.Hikes, sports, and nights out carry ordinary risks, and you're responsible for deciding whether an activity is right for you and for your own safety and belongings. You're also responsible for anyone you bring. NBN isn't responsible for the conduct of other attendees or for what happens at venues we don't own or control. Events created by members carry their own terms — see below.

Member-organized events

Some events are proposed and run by members (“organizers”) rather than by the NBN crew. On the event page we say so plainly, and name the organizer responsible.

NBN is not responsible for member-organized events. The organizer who creates an event is solely responsible for it — for planning and running it, for the venue and activity, for anyone's safety at it, and for anything that happens there. We provide the listing, the RSVP tools, and payment collection as a platform. We are not the host, sponsor, or co-host of a member-organized event; we don't supervise it, and we don't inspect venues, equipment, routes, or activities. Reviewing an event before it's published is a basic sanity check on the listing — it is not an endorsement, a safety inspection, or any assurance about the organizer or the event. To the fullest extent the law allows, NBN has no liability for member-organized events, and any claim about one is between you and the organizer.

If you attend one:you're going as an adult making your own call about an activity a fellow member planned. Use the same judgment you'd use meeting anyone from the internet — tell someone where you're going, and skip anything that doesn't feel right. Questions about how an event will actually run should go to its organizer.

If you're an organizer:

• Your event is yours. You are solely responsible for running it safely and lawfully — including any permits, venue permission, insurance, or age restrictions your activity requires. Only propose things you're actually able to run responsibly.
• You agree to cover NBN for claims, damages, and costs that come out of your event or your handling of it — apart from anything caused by us.
• Every event is reviewed before publishing, and we can decline, edit, unpublish, or cancel any event at our discretion.
• You're hosting under the NBN name, so the conduct rules above apply to you first. Show up, run what you advertised, and treat people well.
• You get the RSVP list (display names only) and one pre-event message to everyone going. Use it for event logistics — not promotion — and don't use member information for anything outside that event.
• Organizer status can be removed at any time, and events run under it can be cancelled if the community is better for it.

Tickets

Some events are ticketed. The price shown at checkout is what you pay — we don't add booking fees on top. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers. A ticket admits one person to that event and isn't transferable for resale.

Refunds:if an event is cancelled, you get your money back. Otherwise tickets are non-refundable, because hosts commit to venues and supplies based on who bought in — but we're human, so if something has come up, email us and we'll do what we reasonably can.

For ticketed member-organized events, NBN collects the money on the organizer's behalf and keeps 4% + $1 per ticket to cover payment processing and running the platform. The rest is paid out to the organizer after the event.

Supporter plans

Supporter plans are an optional monthly subscription that helps pay for the events — nothing on the site is locked behind them. They renew automatically each month at the price shown at checkout until you cancel, which you can do anytime from your profile. Cancelling stops future charges and your supporter perks run to the end of the period you already paid for. We don't prorate partial months. If prices change, we'll tell you first.

Text program

Program description. The Not Boring Nashville text program sends recurring automated marketing messages — event announcements, meetup reminders, and members-only happenings — to people who opt in with their mobile number. Opting in is never required to become a member, to buy a ticket, or to use the site.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies. You can expect a handful of messages a month around events and meetups.

Cost.Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. NBN doesn't charge you for the texts themselves.

How to stop or get help. Reply STOP to any message to cancel and stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help, or reach us any time at heymariahragland@gmail.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your privacy. Mobile opt-in information and consent are not sold or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Emails

Members get event emails and occasional announcements. You can turn those off in your profile settings. Some messages aren't optional — a receipt, a password reset, or notice that an event you RSVP'd to was cancelled.

Photos and things you post

Photos, reviews, and event write-ups you submit stay yours. By posting them you give us permission to show them on the site and in our own social posts and newsletters, and to crop or resize them to fit. Only post things you actually have the right to share, and be thoughtful about photos of other people. Member photos and reviews are reviewed before they go public, and we can decline or remove anything. Want something you posted taken down? Email us.

Our own name, logo, writing, and photos belong to NBN — please don't reuse them commercially without asking.

Ending things

You can leave whenever you want. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or makes the community worse. If we close your account, you keep access to anything you already paid for through the period it covers, unless the reason was serious enough to end it immediately.

The legal necessities

The site and our events are provided as-is. We do our best but can't promise the site is always available or error-free, and we don't control the venues, businesses, or other attendees you encounter through NBN — including, as described above, any event created and run by a member rather than by us. To the fullest extent the law allows, NBN, its owners, and its crew aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some states don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.

Changes

If we update these terms we'll change the effective date at the top, and we'll tell members directly when a change actually matters.
